The BQ25708 provides a low component count and supports a wide range of power sources, including USB PD ports, legacy USB ports, traditional ACDC adapters, and more. The device allows a seamless transition between converter operation modes (buck, boost, or buck-boost), fast transient response, and high light load efficiency. The charger sets the converter to buck, boost or buck-boost configuration based on input source and battery conditions during power up. The Dynamic Power Management (DPM) feature limits the input power and avoids the AC adapter overloading. An additional feature includes programmed comprehensive PROCHOT profile output that goes directly to the CPU for throttle back as required.
